About the board

What Does The Board Do For OA?

The Board of Trustees of Oldenburg Academy is charged with the responsibility of managing the school. It is the commitment to academic excellence, social responsibility, leadership and personal growth for each OA student that energizes the Board. The primary duties are to ensure that the school operation is consistent with the mission and values of the Sisters of St. Francis; to set general policies; to approve the annual financial plan of the school; and to provide strategic direction. All the powers and responsibilities are set forth in the By-Laws.

How Does The Board Accomplish This Work?

The Board consists of 16 or more members of various backgrounds, qualifications, and interests. A term of office is four years, up to a maximum of 12 consecutive years. Terms are staggered to ensure continuity. Regular meetings are held every other month. Special meetings, such as those focused on planning, are typically held one to two times per year.

A great majority of the work is done through Standing Committees, and sometimes Ad Hoc ones.

Each year, board members select the committee(s) in which they have an interest.

Current Committees:

  • Advancement

  • Enhance Academic Value

  • Executive

  • Facilities

  • Finance
